Terms of Use
Applies to the WhatJapanese, WhatEnglish, WhatKorean, WhatThai, WhatSpanish, and WhatCantonese iOS apps.
Updated: September 19, 20261. Parties and scope
These terms are between you and What (Shenyang) Network Technology Co., Ltd. and apply to the WhatJapanese, WhatEnglish, WhatKorean, WhatThai, WhatSpanish, and WhatCantonese iOS apps. Read these terms and the privacy policy before registering, signing in, or continuing to use the services.
2. Accounts and security
Provide a valid phone number, email address, or third-party account that you are entitled to use, and keep your sign-in credentials secure. Each account may authorize up to three iOS devices separately for each Japanese, English, Korean, Thai, Spanish, and Cantonese version. You can view or remove devices for the current language in account settings. Removing a device invalidates its existing sessions for that language app without affecting other language apps. Do not transfer or rent accounts, or use automation, vulnerabilities, or false identities to disrupt the service. If you notice suspicious sign-in activity, promptly remove the relevant devices, change credentials, and contact us.
3. Learning services and content
The app provides vocabulary, handwriting, Academy lessons, review, and exam preparation features. Course content is a learning reference and does not guarantee exam results, professional qualifications, or translation accuracy. We may improve content for teaching quality, but will not remove valid membership access lawfully obtained without justification.
4. Memberships and purchases
Digital content and memberships in the iOS app are purchased through Apple App Store in-app purchases. Prices, billing periods, automatic renewal, and trial conditions are shown on the purchase confirmation screen. Apple manages subscriptions; you can cancel renewal in system subscription settings. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an Apple-managed subscription. Check your subscription status first.
5. Acceptable use
Do not upload or distribute unlawful, harmful, or infringing content, reverse engineer the app, bypass access controls, scrape course resources in bulk, disrupt servers, or infringe others’ rights. For conduct that affects security or other users, we may restrict features, suspend accounts, or take action required by law and explain the reason.
6. Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account in the app’s account settings. Except for information that must be retained by law, the account and associated learning data cannot be recovered after deletion. Any Apple subscription that has not been canceled must still be managed through Apple’s subscription settings.
7. Children
For users under 14, a guardian must read and agree to these terms and supervise use. Guardians should appropriately manage the child’s use and purchases.
8. Changes and contact
We will provide prominent notice of material changes to services or personal-information processing and obtain consent again where necessary. Contact the operator through Feedback in the app or https://www.whatjp.cn. The laws of the People’s Republic of China govern dispute resolution.
